| SLASH RELEASING 3D MUSIC VIDEO |
![]() Slash is set to release a 3D version of the music video for his song "By The Sword," according to Spinner.com. The clip was first released several months ago in a regular flat format and has now been converted to 3D. Slash told Spinner, "We're applying 3-D to it after the fact. It's actually the perfect video for it because it's got a lot of depth shots and shots where everything stops, freezes and stuff is moving around it, so the 3D of that will look cool." The track, which features Wolfmother frontman Andrew Stockdale on vocals, is taken from the ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist's self-titled debut album. The video is set in a post-apocalyptic landscape in which Slash, Stockdale and members of Slash's band are seen performing the song in an underground venue. The stereoscopic version will premiere at the 3D Entertainment and Technology Festival, which will be held in New York's Times Square from September 24th through the 26th. Plans are also in the works for it to be shown on different networks and at selected Hard Rock outlets, although it is not clear whether glasses will be made available to watch the clip. Slash is currently touring behind his solo disc and plays on Saturday (September 4th) in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. |

| MEAT LOAF TALKS 'PEACE ON EARTH' |
![]() Meat Loaf is out with his latest album, Hang Cool Teddy Bear, featuring the single, "Peace on Earth." We recently asked him about the track and its meaning: "I mean, it's such a strong powerful song about war, and you could use it as a liberal. You could use it as a conservative. You could use it as an independent. You could use it for war. You could use it against war. And it's not riding the fence; it's just telling you what's going on and how people feel about it. 'Peace on Earth' is an extraordinary piece of music." Among the guest stars featured on the album are Brian May, Steve Vai, Jack Black, House actor Hugh Laurie and others. The set features songs co-written by Jon Bon Jovi, Kara DioGuardi and others. Meat Loaf's new album is based around a story written by screenwriter/director Killian Kerwin about "a wounded soldier who flashes forward to a life that might have been." | NO REALITY TV ON THE HORIZON FOR SAMMY HAGAR |
![]() Chickenfoot/ex-Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar and his band The Wabos just finished up a run of dates opening up for Aerosmith on Thursday night (September 2nd) in Cincinnati. While Hagar says that he and Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler have been friends for over 30 years, Hagar told us you won't see him showing up to visit Tyler at his new gig as an American Idol judge. In fact, Hagar says you won't ever catch him on any reality or talent shows: "I've been offered not that show, but every other show that's just like it, you know. They keep offering, offering, offering. I do not want to be a TV star. If I would have wanted to be a TV star, I'd have had a reality show the first day they started because I've been offered every one of those on the planet too by every network on the planet. I think TV ruins people. I mean, you know, it kind of makes you big, and then it chews you up and spits you out." Steven Tyler is all but confirmed to join American Idol as a judge after Aerosmith finishes its current North American tour. Hagar and Chickenfoot will play in Indio, California on September 10th and Stateline, Nevada on September 11th. The band, which also features former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, tentatively plan to record their second album this fall, but may have to seek out a new drummer due to Smith's recording commitments with the Chili Peppers. | BOB DYLAN PAINTINGS MAKE THEIR DEBUT IN DENMARK TODAY |
![]() Forty Bob Dylan paintings will go on display today (Friday, September 3rd) at Denmark's National Gallery. The paintings -- never before shown to the public -- are part of Dylan's "Brazil Series" and were specifically made for the Danish exhibition. According to the Associated Press, the collection includes figurative scenes from Brazilian slums, farms and beaches. Dylan did the pieces during visits to Brazil and then painted them on canvas in a studio. He said, "I chose Brazil as a subject, because I have been there many times and I like the atmosphere." There's not much more known about the process, as the exhibition's curator says he doesn't even know if Dylan painted what he actually saw or "only saw photographs of it." The exhibition ends January 30, 2011. Dylan will release the ninth volume of his Bootleg Session on October 19th, featuring 1960's demos he recorded for Witmark and Leeds Publishing. According to RollingStone.com, if you buy the set from Amazon, it comes with a previously unknown live recording of Dylan, taped May 10th, 1963 at Brandeis University's first Folk Festival. Other projects are reportedly also in the works. An insider tells Rolling Stone that a documentary of Dylan's 1975/76 Rolling Thunder Revue is still in the works and may come out in the next couple of years. In addition, there's talk of a batch of Bootleg Series DVDs to be released in the coming years. A box set of the complete Blonde on Blonde sessions is also possible. |

| BONO FOR PRIME MINISTER? |
![]() Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair says in his new memoir, A Journey, that he thinks U2 frontman Bono would be great in the job. According to Spinner, Blair writes late in the massive book that Bono "could have been a president or prime minister standing on his head. He had an absolutely natural gift for politicking, was great with people, very smart and an inspirational speaker . . . motivated by an abundant desire to keep on improving, never really content or relaxed." Blair adds, "I knew he would work with George (W. Bush) well, and with none of the prissy disdain of most of his ilk." Bono has been heavily involved in political, social and international causes over the course of his career. focusing mostly on hunger, AIDS and poverty in Africa and other parts of the Third World. U2 guitarist The Edge told us that U2's successes as a band and activists have allowed Bono to be an effective lobbyist for change: "I'm just really proud, I suppose, of him, and proud of the fact that our band -- and our work -- has created this environment where it's possible for him to walk into some of these corridors of power and actually get people to take him seriously." U2 has been touring Europe for the past month and also claims to have several albums worth of new material ready to release. | QUICK TAKES |
| A New Jersey judge has tossed a lawsuit filed by the state against two companies that resold tickets to three Bruce Springsteen concerts at Giants Stadium last year. According to the the Associated Press, attorney general, Anne Milgram, accused Orbitz Worldwide and TicketNetwork of fraud for offering scalped tickets online that either didn't exist or were not delivered. In the end, a judge ruled the companies couldn't be held responsible because they were only providing a marketplace for third parties to sell tickets, and not selling the tickets themselves. The judge said the companies provide a "vibrant, competitive market for consumers." The members of the band War are filing a lawsuit against Pepsi, alleging the company stole their "signature song" -- 1975's "Why Can't We Be Friends" for a national ad campaign. TMZ.com reports that they're suing $10 million for the use of the track in a commercial for Pepsi Max. According to the lawsuit, the band members say they "did not consent to the use of their performance" in the spot, arguing that the ad is a "deliberate violation" of their licensing arrangements. "Why Can't We Be Friends" is the title track to War's 1975 album, which also features the hit "Low Rider." Despite news reports, Bon Jovi hasn't been offered a multi-million deal to do a residency at a leading Las Vegas hotel. GossipCop.com caught up with the band's rep, who says a residency is not in the works. The New Jersey rockers will, however, play a show for the Gulf Coast in the wake of the BP oil spill. As part of a series dubbed Reclaiming Our Beaches, Bon Jovi will perform October 15th in Gulf Shores, Alabama to help attract visitors back to the Gulf Coast. |

![]() During a recent interview with the U.K.'s Telegraph, Rod Stewart chimed in on Paris Hilton and her recent issues, telling her to "give up the drugs." The rocker's daughter Kim Stewart was once good friends with Hilton, but it's clear from the interview that they two no longer see each other. Stewart had some nice things to say about Hilton, but also sounds worried for her, noting, "She is a lovely girl. I've always found her tremendously polite and very respectful, but, you know, it's time to move on perhaps, give up the drugs." He added, "You know move on, there's other things, you don't need 'em. She's a beautiful girl. We've all done it, but I've never been a druggie sort of person so I've always been against it."
